new "sherlock" tv series by stephen moffat

Ack, it's been ages since an update. Because I work exclusively on weekend mornings now, it's almost impossible for me to do weekend posts. If you are all still interested in reading posts, you are very, very welcome to make your own. In fact, I encourage it. I'm sorry for being a horrible mod. D: Anyway, on to the more interesting news:

Today my boyfriend alerted me to a new, modernized version of the Sherlock Holmes television series, written by Stephen Moffat, which some of you may know as the writer of many a mind and heart-wrenching episode of Doctor Who. I haven't read any reviews of the first episode yet, but it has premiered and you can download it through torrenting. It looks intriguing, to say the least, but I do have my reservations about something like this. I tend to stick pretty true to the source material. Has anyone seen it yet? What're your thoughts, and how does it compare to other modern Holmes-y shows like House?

The one who plays Watson - is that the guy who starred in The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy?

And it actually looks promising! Kinda like CSI though, idk. I'd love to watch this!

I was really wary of this and there were a few moments where I was bothered a bit (Holmes texting just does not compute) but I thought it was rather good actually! The ending won me over completely it was so cute! And there were a few canon lines thrown in that I loved-including my favorite the "come at once if convenient" bit.

It's fun watching Holmes exploring the modern world of criminology though!

I like Benedict Cumberbatch, if only because he has one of the most preposterous names in the English language.

I really enjoyed it. :D I think you'll enjoy it too. :3 He uses texting to annoy Lestrade, which I think is as good of an excuse as any. Plus, IDK, it still felt like Sherlock Holmes to me. And since it's the 21st century you get a nice scene about how Holmes says girls aren't his area and Watson being all "Oh, boyfriend then?". ;) It's good besides the slashy bits too, though, I'm not entirely a one-track mind haha
